A Plea to Hair Fair Visitors
I was really looking forward to checking out the hair fair, hopefully discover some new creators, mingle with old friends, make some new. But I can't because some people find it necessary to wear ball gowns and bling. After trying literally ALL day to get into the hair fair, I finally made it about an hour ago. I have a brand spanking new computer, upgraded fancy shmancy graphnics card, no other attachments except my 10 prim hair, no AOs, particles on naught, draw distance at 96, local lighting shiny and pretty much all the bells and whistles turned off or as low as possible. I couldn't move, at all. I know there were a lot of people but I've attended events frequented by a lot of people in the past and I know that if you are a responsible attendee, you can cut down on lag. There were people with super primmy hair, jewels, tails, ears, totally ridiculous number of prims. Maybe they have some insanely amazing computer, good for them. But really, it's a bit selfish to run around a busy sim like that as if it were an empty sim. So PLLEASSE, pretty please with cherries on top, people, help everyone to enjoy the experience better by sacrificing a little of your vanity for both the pleasure of the other hair fair visitors and your own.

Celebrate Spring
The birds are chirping, the air is warming, flowers have begun to...well kind of flower, a little. It's SPRING and it's April, or to our French friends, avril. We've whipped up a flirty little number to celebrate avril, a graphic print short dress with matching cardigan. We kept this month's release a bit simple because we have a whole bunch of other projects that are requiring a lot of our time. The good thing is though, we can price it so reasonably since it's just a 3 piece outfit.

The outfit is available in peony and hyacinth and we've also created a limited release skin to coordinate with the dresses. Our avril skin is available in all 10 skin tones, including red brows with freckles. As always, the skin is in limited release, which means you have just a month to buy! I hope you all enjoy it.

Update and Randomness

Let me get this out first....
Woo hoo and yay. I consider these to be lady like long. Very classic, 40's-50's inspired length and shape. They were fashioned after the very lovely Dita Von Teese, a modern day burlesque queen. In three of the nail sets, I left the moon of the nail bare which I learned is a very old school style manicure from Dita. CJ and I have been kept very busy lately, averaging one custom AV a week for the past month or so. The experience has been very challenging and rewarding for the two of us. But as I've been spending so much time in the skin and shape of middle aged men, I've been CRAVING some glamor. I hope to get my hands on some of the good stuff soon.

Mod for March

Or rather, mars, in french. We are getting a little bit better each month with the whole releasing the calendar girl release on time. At this rate, we just may get it right by the summer and actually release on the first of each month! Wow!! I'm exhausted, we both are really. We complted a custom AV for the Electric Sheep company. If I weren't so exhausted, I'd post a picture or a link. For the curious...it was Matt Lauer for the Today Show. The segment can be viewed on the MSNBC website for the show that aired this past Friday. It was the second of the two segments about sl on the site. We are currently working on two other AVs for various development companies so we are a bit swamped. Add to that, we have joined up with Shai Delacroix's Relay for Life team. We are very busy bees.

So about the mars release...I like the sound of mod mars and people have been asking for awhile for mod makeup so it was our original attention to go very period but we were really struggling to find something that we could make and have it feel 'us' still. That's how we came up with this look...it's mod inspired but more contemporary. It's fresh and very spring. The makeup was inspired by a photo of Twiggy. We've also created new prim nails that coordinate with the outfits.

Finally, Fevrier 4 Pack!
We've finally managed to load up the vendors and take all the pictures for our fevrier 4 pack release. I do apologize to those who have been waiting patiently for it. Unfortunately (or actually, fortunately for us) a few things have gotten in the way. One of them being our new prim nails which to both of our surprise, has been a HUGE hit. The other thing, we hope to share with everyone in the near future. In the meantime, I hope you all enjoy these semi tropical interpretations of our original limited release fevrier skin.

Somewhere Between the Head and the Feet are......

The hands. Or nails to be more exact, so we at Tete a Pied have decided to pay them some special attention. We pushed some of our other releases aside to focus on these babies because CJ and I were convinced they were genius and NOBODY has ever done them before. Now I hear that somebody has, although none of my fashionista friends can remember just where they saw it. C'est la vie. We love them and hopefully some of you out there will too. I've been harping on for the longest time about doing more nail gloves since CJ said that he thought he could improve upon the last batch. Because that area of the AV is so tiny, we are dealing with very few pixels and it is very difficult to get something that looks good. It is pretty much close to impossible to get any sort of a pattern or design in that area too. By putting a texture on a prim, we open up a lot of possibilities. We have so many ideas that we couldn't possibly even begin to do half of them and release by the weekend's end. So this first release contains 25 varieties of nails. We created 10 solids, 5 french manicures, 5 sparkles, and 5 art nails with a Valentine's Day theme that could work any time of the year.

To those who keep asking and begging and pleading for the expanded Fevrier 4 pack...no we did not forsake you. The range is completed. We just have to take pictures and load up vendors. We have a few more things that we wanted to include with that release as well. So please be just a little more patient, the time is almost here.

Fevrier Arrives at Tete a Pied

Yes, fevrier has pretty much nothing to do with the actual month. It was sort of an accident how that happened. First we were supposed to do the outfits in shades of valentines, pink, red, etc and so forth but CJ convinced me to go against the whole v-day thing since he is a boy and hates pink things. There was also supposed to be some sort of a sweater shrug but it morphed into a sheer little slip of a thing (CJ's idea). So basically, I'm blaming it all on him.
As for the fevrier makeup, I sometimes refer to the late, great, Kevyn Aucoin's "Making Faces" when I need makeup ideas. I'd had my eye on this one look, model, for ages. It was very 80s super model. Sexy, bold, strong. The layer made to create that very subtle touch of color at the inner corner of the eye and brow bone has a lovely blend that looks rather wild when played with. It ended up inspiring me to create a colorful 4 pack which should be coming out in the next few days. The four pack will become part of our range and stick around but the fevrier single will be removed when the next month's makeup is released.

Tete a Pied's Review Copy Policy
The ever so talented Sol Columbia posted about her policy on review copies recently on her blog . We've been thinking about establishing a policy for a very long time. New blogs and magazines pop up all the time, writers come and go and I try to keep on top of everything but it is a bit of challenge. New release days have become that much more stressful as I try to figure out who to drop review copies on, what items to drop on them, etc. So for all those reasons, as well some mentioned by Sol, we are going to adopt an 'ask and you shall receive policy'
Spelling It Out
Review items are available under these conditions:
1. You drop a note card or send me an e-mail at roslin.petion@gmail.com of the exact item you want a review copy of. Please be detailed and include both skin tone and makeup name or in the case of outfits or other items, item name and color. Ex: Janvier Cocoa set or Rose Medium Peach Melba.
2. You state the purpose/where/how of your review copy request. It just has to be a blog or some sort of publication. Most importantly, it is for review, we do not give out content to other creators to use in their ads or do product trades, we get way too many requests for that for it to be reasonable.
3. You do not abuse the system. Please don't ask for our latest 4 pack in every single one of our 9 skin tones.

I Love My Calendar Girl
CJ and I have been discussing the possibility of branching out into clothing since the infancy of Tete a Pied but with the skin line and our first life jobs, we struggled to find the time to create a proper clothing line. Recently, we came up with the idea of creating just one outfit a month that ties in to the seasons. Unfortunately, the idea came to us AFTER the New Year but better late then never, right?

This month's release, Janvier (French for January) is inspired by the big trends of this year's fall/winter collections. This eight piece fur and tweed ensemble is available in Slate and Cocoa and includes a limited release skin made to compliment each color scheme. Each skin is available in your choice of one of 9 skin tones. Once next month's set is available, the Janvier skins will be retired permanently. You also have the option of buying the outfits and skins separately.

Natural Beauty
CJ and I have been toying with the idea of doing a no makeup natural skin for awhile now. Make no mistake, I love makeup, but there is an art to creating a beautiful, natural looking skin.
We kept putting it off because we were unsure how to make a skin that was different enough from our natural makeup 4 pack, Ingenue. CJ decided to take use it as an opportunity to experiment a bit. He's done a little bit of photosourcing, our skins are normally 100% hand drawn. Pay particular attention to the brows, they are my favorite bit. We also decided to give mod skins a try. I have to say in all honesty, it was a trying experience. Finding a way to hide the Linden belly button without turning our belly button into a big black hole was especially trying.
We've created 4 looks with the skins. Bare is our most basic natural look, not a trace of makeup. In addition to the obvious, the lips on the Freckles skin has just a hint of lip gloss and sun kissed cheeks.
The Rosy skin has flush on the cheeks and nose and the Minimal skin is a subtle makeup look, a softly smudged brown liner and neutral lip gloss.

Have Yourself a Naughty Little Christmas

With our new Vixen 4 pack. The glossy lips you all LOVED are back, only this time, the lips our in bolder colors paired with smoldering eyes. The color palettes are wildly varied, so that every kind of vixen should find at least one that appeals.
But that's not all we have to share with you for the holidays....there is a serious shortage of evening bags in SL so I begged and pleaded with CJ to create something I cooked up for all the formal wearing fashionistas. Our Paillette Clutch comes in 3 colors sure to compliment any gown well past new year's: gold, silver and copper. But don't be afraid to use it to dress up more casual wear for a city chic look. My friend Haver Cole paired our gold clutch with an all in black outfit and she looked ready to hit a hot new club.

Real Men Wear Makeup

At least that's what I believe. I think there is nothing sexier than a bad boy with some heavy eye liner ala Dave Navarro. I've also seen the look on male models in Aucoin's 'Making Faces.' Hopefully the men out there will give the new skin a try. The four pack has two makeup looks, a softly smudged, black kohl rimmed eye and a another in a dark, slightly desaturated blue with a little bit of a smokey wash all around the lid. They are available in a regular 5 o'clock shadow as well as a new facial hair option which was inspired by Johnny Depp. We call it Boho. It turns every man into an instant artiste.
In other news, CJ and I have begun to set up shop in HD and paeoti Pomeray's Lil SLurgis. It's a really fun little strip of shops in a Sturgis inspired wild west setting. Dance on the bar, ride your bike, just let your hair down. In keeping with the alternative lifestyle spirit of the the place, we've decided to put up our Gothique and costume skins. If you haven't had a chance to yet, you should really check out the Pomeray's have done with the epsilon sim.

New Gothique and Redhead Skins
We reworked our previously released Trendy 4 pack for redheads and created an all new 4 pack for our Gothique skin tone, called Vixen. I had some real fun with the names in the Vixen set, I was inpsired a bit by the way Urban Decay names their cosmetics. I went with gritty names...lesion, bruise, asphyxia, bloody. Pics will be posted in the forums.

Home Stretch
So...close...to done. Just..one.. last thing. *sighs* This post will be less than graceful and eloquent but it's close to 2am and I need to be up in less than 8 hours so my apologies in advance. It's been non-stop these past few days. Since the new Tete is SO close to done, CJ and I decided to just push ourselves and get it done already. I won't go into all the boring details but we had so many things to do that we didn't expect to have to tackle for this new shop and it slowed us down. So the quick update....Nouveau, our new sim is open. Yay! CJ and I are proud to be joined by Miriel Enfield and Jackal Ennui.
So to celebrate our opening we have a special sale for group members. Buy 1 single by 7pm slt on 11/21, then drop a notecard on me, Roslin Petion. Title the notecard 'Skin Promo' and include your AV name and your skin choice.
We also have introduced two new skin tones, each with a 4 pack of makeup created specifically for it. Gothique comes in the Ennui 4 pack, a romantic alternative to the traditional goth look.
Our redhead skins are available in a variety pack of redhead friendly versions of our most popular skins. They come with redbrows and pubic hair and two of the skins also have freckles.

Gamine 4 Pack Released Today
According to the wikipedia, "gamine is a French word, the feminine form of gamin, originally meaning urchin, waif or playful, naughty child." Over the past 100 years or so, it's come to mean something more. The gamine that most people know is a woman who displays little girl qualities, often a bit impish but also has a subtle seductive quality. Well known gamine figures include Mary Pickford,Audrey Hepburn, Mia Farrow, and Audrey Tautou. We drew our inspiration for the gamine look from these women. We paired a classic thick cat's eye liner and bare, natural lid, with a dreamy modern high-gloss lip. I'm particularly proud of the high gloss lip. Since our first Tete line, CJ has been working on creating a true lip gloss similar to Mac Lip Glass. Given the nature of the medium, it was a great challenge. We don't like to toot our own horns (especially the modest and oh so polite Mr. Carnot) BUT....I think it's the best darn lip gloss in SL. The skins come in four different lip glosses, all paired with the thick cat's eye liner.
Soda
Finally made it over to Soda. Super sweet clothing, mostly brights and pastels. I so wish I weren't too lazy to post the picture of the dress I bought. Doll house is an adorable school girl number ala fall 2006 Anna Sui and Chloe and I can't wait to wear
