Have Yourself a Naughty Little Christmas
With our new Vixen 4 pack. The glossy lips you all LOVED are back, only this time, the lips our in bolder colors paired with smoldering eyes. The color palettes are wildly varied, so that every kind of vixen should find at least one that appeals.
But that's not all we have to share with you for the holidays....there is a serious shortage of evening bags in SL so I begged and pleaded with CJ to create something I cooked up for all the formal wearing fashionistas. Our Paillette Clutch comes in 3 colors sure to compliment any gown well past new year's: gold, silver and copper. But don't be afraid to use it to dress up more casual wear for a city chic look. My friend Haver Cole paired our gold clutch with an all in black outfit and she looked ready to hit a hot new club.

Real Men Wear Makeup
At least that's what I believe. I think there is nothing sexier than a bad boy with some heavy eye liner ala Dave Navarro. I've also seen the look on male models in Aucoin's 'Making Faces.' Hopefully the men out there will give the new skin a try. The four pack has two makeup looks, a softly smudged, black kohl rimmed eye and a another in a dark, slightly desaturated blue with a little bit of a smokey wash all around the lid. They are available in a regular 5 o'clock shadow as well as a new facial hair option which was inspired by Johnny Depp. We call it Boho. It turns every man into an instant artiste.
In other news, CJ and I have begun to set up shop in HD and paeoti Pomeray's Lil SLurgis. It's a really fun little strip of shops in a Sturgis inspired wild west setting. Dance on the bar, ride your bike, just let your hair down. In keeping with the alternative lifestyle spirit of the the place, we've decided to put up our Gothique and costume skins. If you haven't had a chance to yet, you should really check out the Pomeray's have done with the epsilon sim.

New Gothique and Redhead Skins
We reworked our previously released Trendy 4 pack for redheads and created an all new 4 pack for our Gothique skin tone, called Vixen. I had some real fun with the names in the Vixen set, I was inpsired a bit by the way Urban Decay names their cosmetics. I went with gritty names...lesion, bruise, asphyxia, bloody. Pics will be posted in the forums.

Home Stretch
So...close...to done. Just..one.. last thing. *sighs* This post will be less than graceful and eloquent but it's close to 2am and I need to be up in less than 8 hours so my apologies in advance. It's been non-stop these past few days. Since the new Tete is SO close to done, CJ and I decided to just push ourselves and get it done already. I won't go into all the boring details but we had so many things to do that we didn't expect to have to tackle for this new shop and it slowed us down. So the quick update....Nouveau, our new sim is open. Yay! CJ and I are proud to be joined by Miriel Enfield and Jackal Ennui.
So to celebrate our opening we have a special sale for group members. Buy 1 single by 7pm slt on 11/21, then drop a notecard on me, Roslin Petion. Title the notecard 'Skin Promo' and include your AV name and your skin choice.
We also have introduced two new skin tones, each with a 4 pack of makeup created specifically for it. Gothique comes in the Ennui 4 pack, a romantic alternative to the traditional goth look.
Our redhead skins are available in a variety pack of redhead friendly versions of our most popular skins. They come with redbrows and pubic hair and two of the skins also have freckles.

It's been awhile since we've done something special for our TaP group so we decided to create an offer to introduce our new Gamine 4pack. This offer is good for group members only. Buy any of the Gamine skins and receive any of our older skins free. To take advantage of the offer, all you have to do is purchase a Gamine skin before 1am Sunday, SLT. Then drop a notecard with your name and choice of skin in the title on Roslin Petion.

Gamine 4 Pack Released Today
According to the wikipedia, "gamine is a French word, the feminine form of gamin, originally meaning urchin, waif or playful, naughty child." Over the past 100 years or so, it's come to mean something more. The gamine that most people know is a woman who displays little girl qualities, often a bit impish but also has a subtle seductive quality. Well known gamine figures include Mary Pickford,Audrey Hepburn, Mia Farrow, and Audrey Tautou. We drew our inspiration for the gamine look from these women. We paired a classic thick cat's eye liner and bare, natural lid, with a dreamy modern high-gloss lip. I'm particularly proud of the high gloss lip. Since our first Tete line, CJ has been working on creating a true lip gloss similar to Mac Lip Glass. Given the nature of the medium, it was a great challenge. We don't like to toot our own horns (especially the modest and oh so polite Mr. Carnot) BUT....I think it's the best darn lip gloss in SL. The skins come in four different lip glosses, all paired with the thick cat's eye liner.
Soda
Finally made it over to Soda. Super sweet clothing, mostly brights and pastels. I so wish I weren't too lazy to post the picture of the dress I bought. Doll house is an adorable school girl number ala fall 2006 Anna Sui and Chloe and I can't wait to wear

Stand Up
It is a bit short on notice but I just want to encourage everyone to participate in the Stand Up campaign. I've been meaning to post about it since I first heard about the action. Look for Stand Up kiosks at Tete a Pied, Midnight City, and other locations. Click on the kiosk to get bracelet which you click on in order to be counted as a participant for the Guiness record. As the official sitte states:
"The purpose of the action is to raise awareness of the Millennium Development Goals (MDGs) and to publicly demonstrate to policy makers the growing global support for the eradication of poverty."
The Millennium Development Goals are promises that various goverments have already made. Stand up is about reminding them about these promises. It's a really simple thing that takes just about a minute.
The second life website for stand up is : http://www.standagainstpoverty.org/action/sl

Little Girls are made of....
Sugar and spice of course. Our spice however, isn't THAT nice. It has a slight goth edge to it. For the longest time, CJ and I have wanted to do a doll inspired makeup but we kept putting it off. After creating a recent custom job that included a doll like skin, we felt inspired to push the look a bit. We liked the idea of doing a sort of darker doll look but we also love the traditional porcelain doll face. The other thing we were thinking about was how much we wanted it to look like an actual doll vs a girl wearing makeup to look like a doll. We decided to try to do a little bit of everything. Each 4 pack consists of 4 distinct looks, the two spice are goth inspired with one each of a natural and more doll like skin and the sugar are a sweeter, more traditional variation of that. I've also included a notecard to give tips on recreating the more doll look shape I wore in the ads. If you take a good look, you can spot all the subtle differences between each skin. The 2 genuine doll skins feature a little extra highlight that CJ created to give them a more porcelain appearance. They also feature painted in brows. The girl as doll looks have natural brows and no highlights. There are lots of other little special details. I honestly think we could easily do 3-4 more 4 packs without repeating ourselves. We've also priced them at a deep discount so that it is more affordable for those who may want to use it just for Halloween. These are a special edition which means they are only available in one skin tone and our located in the center of the store with our other specials, instead of back on the walls with the regular makeups.

Made for Him, Designed for Her
Tete a Pied skins for men are ready for release. CJ started working on the line even before he began Tete 2 but that line soon dominated all our waking hours. As soon as I allowed him a second of rest, he went right back to the men's line. His hard work has paid off and we have a really great line that I am proud of. We are starting off with just 4 facial hair styles and 9 skin tones, with a lot more planned for the future. As a makeup artist, of course I would love to experiment a bit with men's makeup. My absolute favorite makeup artist, Kevyn Aucoin has done some amazing work in that area and I am dying to try it out. We have some other big projects, huge ones but they are secret. We are trying so hard to get as much as possible done before the spring because fingers crossed, I'll be in grad school come then and have a lot less free time.

Right Off the Runway
Trendy is out in Tete a Pied right now. As I mentioned before, this makeup was based on a look at the Fall Versace show. It did end up morphing into something a bit fresher than the inspiration makeup but I like that. I think it is just a result of the Tete character coming through. CJ and I are starting to really see our hallmark in our work. I feel like we are finding ourselves creatively and one of our characteristics is interpretating things in a fresh, clean way.
Other things in the works....skins for men! After much deliberation, CJ decided to return back to his work in progress. Originally, we felt like too many men prefer photoreal skins to bother but we've received so many requests that we thought we would give it a go. So keep your eyes peeled for those in the next week or so.
Finally, yes, we plan on making more bags but with the mens skins and other side projects, you may have a bit to wait is all.

Tete Branches Out
There aren't too many handbags out there in SL and even fewer really classic looking, lady like bags. So of course, I begged, pleaded and coerced Mr. Carnot into making one just like I wanted. It's something that I wish I could afford in real life, rich in detail yet tasteful and understated. It comes with a standard hold that will not interfere your AO and in a stroke of genius, CJ decided to make the bag change on touch. So you can cycle through all 6 colors without fussing through your inventory. The "Heiress"handbag is available now in our new release section.
While CJ was busy working on the handbag, I was working on our latest 4 pack. It is inspired by a makeup look scene at the Fall Versace show. Very richly colored(or coloured for those of you on the other side of the pond), smoky eyes paired with subtle lips. The four pack, which will be called Trendy, should be released sometime around Thursday. For now, you will have to satisfy your curiosity with a sneak peek. This is me in the Indigo makeup.

Just Peachy
I am in love with Lash Xevious's Peaches, both the hair and the lovely peach and gestures that come with it(featured right). Even when I'm not wearing her hair, you'll find that peach in my hand.It really inspired me to come up with something fun and well...peach. So with CJ's help, I created a 4 pack of makeup inspired by both Lash's hair and the mighty peach.
Peach Natural is an ode to the last days of summer, freckles are sprinkled about and complimented by a natural makeup. Peach Melba, has peach shadow and blush paired with raspberry lips and a cheeky beauty mark. Peach blossom isn't really peach but rather pink, like the flowers. The last makeup is Peach Sorbet, with the punchiest peach palette of the four. I hope everyone enjoys the skins as much as I did making them.
Oh and on a side note...The latest issue of Second Style is finally out follow the link on the side to get a pdf or pick up an in world copy at any of the participating locations, including Second Style headquarters. I had a great time interviewing our very first style guy, Athel Richileu as well as the very talented Canimal Zehpyr.

Too Tired for a Clever Title
Many moons ago, when CJ and I released the Dresden skin line, we received several requests for geisha makeup. We had done a little bit of research at that point and were considering doing a makeup but we had too many other projects to give it the time and effort we felt was appropriate. As soon as the Tete 2 line was released we continued our research in an effort to depict the Geisha makeup in as accurate a fashion as possible. We learned that Geisha's actually begin their careers as maikos, the literal translation for is'dancing girls.' A geisha's makeup changes to reflect each new stage of her training as well as her age. Because a geisha's beauty is supposed to grow with age, she would use less makeup. Usually, a geisha over thirty only wears the full geisha makeup (like we used in our Junior Geisha makeup) for formal occasions or performances. We've also included a free shape with the 4 pack. We based our makeups mostly on the 2 following websites:
http://www.immortalgeisha.com
http://www.phototravels.net/kyoto/geisha-maiko.html
We have also released a newbie skin for accounts less than 30 days only. I created the makeup for this special offer exclusively and it comes in all 9 skin tones. Both the newbie and geisha packs are available on the shelves in the center of the store.

Celebrate the Release of Tete 2
This post comes a bit late, apparently I've been out scooped by both Celebrity Trollop over at
Second Style Fashionista and Elka Lehane over at
Pixelpinup
Yes, Tete 2 skins are completed, the vendors are set up and the shop is built. All that needs to be taken care of are some random odds and ends before our official opening on Saturday. CJ and I have put so much into Tete 2 and we are eager to share them. We both very proud of our work. In all honesty, when we started to work on Tete 2 I said I would be happy if we were to just improve upon our weaknesses but he insisted on starting again from scratch and in the end, I have to say that I'm glad he won out. For those who haven't made it over to PXP or Second Style Fashionista, here is a sneak peak of our makeup range.
We still have the subtle makeup and butt dimples that our customers adore but now our brows and lips have a bit more flexibility to them and our cleavage is much enhanced. Our singles are selling for 1k and our four packs for 2500. I can't emphasize enough how much I'm looking forward to celebrating our release on Saturday, to finally take a step back and just breathe. Our Fairy Tale themed party will take place at 1pm on Saturday and I can't wait to wear Miriel Enfield's dress and princess circlet. I know our skins have nothing to do with fairy tales (as CJ keeps reminding me) but I love having an excuse to get dressed up and wear something beautiful and I know most women in SL have been complaining that there aren't enough reasons to do so. What woman doesn't want to feel like a princess some of the time?

Insert Cute Quirky Title Here
I began this blog with the intention of sharing what it is like to be a new content creator in SL, maybe blow off some steam, and help spread the word about pretty much anything in SL that I feel isn't receiving enough attention- builds, fashion, residents, whatever. I have pretty much failed all across the board. I do have a good excuse though. Skins are a lot of work. A lot. We've been working really hard on creating a skin that improves upon our weak points while still retaining the character that our customers love and say sets us apart. I'm really looking forward to sharing more in the coming weeks as the launch time for Tete Deux draws near.

Life
An awful lot has been going on this past week. I wish I had the patience to do a thorough weekly roundup like Iris over at
Linden Lifestyles. Real quick though... The scam artist trying to sell what he purported to be Lost Skins on Sunday, yeah, we dealt with him. The story is sort of amusing...but a bit long. Maybe one day I'll get around to it. Tete Deux...it's coming along. CJ may want to kill me for posting about it but I'm excited. We are hoping to have it ready before the fall. I did a little bit of hobnobbing with some SLebrities...I won't name drop, yet. It's silly, I know, they are just ordinary people but I get a kick out of it.
Then there is the new issue of Second Style. This month's Style Girl was my good friend MeiLin Miranda who has an awesome, fun, sense of style. I also had the good fortune to be able to do an inventory raid on the fabulous Fallingwater Cellardoor of Shiny Things. She was easily one of the nicest, most interesting content creators that I've ever had the chance to speak with.
And then there is Tete a Pied's new skin, Life. 100% of the procedes will go to the American Cancer Society's Relay for Life. I'm really proud of the new skin. First of all, we are using new eyebrows and lip texture that I'm really happy with. We also have a rather risque tat on the small of the back which is part of the ACS logo. We are selling the skin in a pack with all 7 skin tones for only 900. I really hope that our customers pick up a skin, just to contribute to the cause, if nothing else. I know that everybody has been touched by cancer in some way, myself included. And if it isn't my skin, or Starley's skin, then let it be ETD's hair...let it be anything really. Just keep in mind what your lindens mean in rl dollars. Donating $3 to a cause like this shouldn't make most people even blink. And for those of you that may be in a tight spot financially...lindens do add up, throw a linden in a kiosk, even if that is all you have.

Death Becomes Us
Soon after I about the Dresden line on the forums, Joannah Crammer of Pixel Deep wrote, "Trying to post a make up ad right after Roslin's is like getting to play guitar just as Santana leaves the stage but ye gods, still no choice but to try >>;" I practically squealed when I read those words. Receiving compliments are always nice but to receive one that big from someone I consider very talented, well it's a lovely boost to the ego. CJ and I have been receiving a lot of compliments on the Dresden line and we both are torn between glee and discomfort. The polite little Brit finds himself a bit embarassed by it all and I keep bracing myself for the turning of the tide.
Remember when I mentioned that one other skin we were thinking of adding to the Dresden line up? Well, CJ finally got this one tricky spot sorted out (the drawn in squiggle under the eye) and after debating a bit over the stylized true to comic version he had created versus a more natural look that I was rooting for, we compromised and offered both. Even though the Dresden line was supposed to be a special edition, I can't help but have the urge to add more makeups to the line. Not just for the profit(although that is sweet) but for the praise. It just feels so damn nice to have people enjoy what you create, plain and simple. Still, we promised ourselves from the start, no catering to the masses...I just didn't expect it to be this hard. We've also been trying to figure out just what it was that has made the skins so popular. Was it the new shading (shhhh, top secret but it is basically the start of the Tete Deux Skin), the new brows, the novelty/fantasy aspect of the skin? While we ponder that, we are also trying to figure out just what we want Tete to be about....some pretty heavy thinking lies ahead.

You Look Like a Doll, Baby
After taking a look through Silent Sparrow the other day (gorgeous stuff btw), I was feeling a bit...goth. Our friend Haver Cole had suggested a Dresden Dolls skin a little while back and it was always something we meant to get around to doing for her alone. I asked CJ to come up with a skin tone that had a little more life to it than the usual goth skin but I still wanted it to be a bit unnaturally pale. My intention was to put together something for just myself and Haver but once I got my hands on that China white skin, I was inspired. I'm especially proud of the work CJ did on the eyebrows for the Doll makeup (inspired by The Dresden Dolls singer, Samantha). In addition to Doll, we have Amidala from Star Wars, and two sort of all purpose makeups, Vamp and Purple. CJ and I consider these skins to be a special addition. That means we have no intention of adding additional makeups to the line although there is still 1 more makeup that I would like to see in that skin tone.
We've been receiving a lot of requests for additional makeups in the new skin tones, especially Tokyo. I'm pleased to announce that the Purple Smoke and Hollywood makeups are now available in Havana, Tokyo, and Nairobi skin tones.

Tete a Pied Super Sale
OK, I'm lazy. So this is a messy post with no pretty indents or paragraph breaks or nothing, no slurls either. CJ spent the day busting his butt getting Tete a Pied relocated. I got the bright idea of having a special sale to celebrate which meant more work for him of course. All I do is makeup kids. Poor CJ. So, head over to our new store to purchase one of my 4 favorite makeups for 300. The offer is good until 4pm game time, June 5th. Also, Nairobi, Havana, and Tokyo are now available in 4-packs as well as Bronze Shimmer.

Flexing
First off, I have a bit of catching up to do. For various reasons, I never got around to posting last week's two newest makeups, Fashionista, which was inspired by Celebrity Trollop, and Bronze Shimmer. This week's new makeup is Spring Fling.
While what seems like more than half of all Second Life content creators have been exploring the world of flex prims, CJ and I have been flexing ourselves in a very different direction. As I write this, CJ is busy setting up the vendors with our 3 new skin tones: Tokyo, Havana, and Nairobi. The skins were particularly challenging and we've been working on them for a little over 2 weeks. Each new skin tone is available in the standard natural, day, and night makeups, as well as a unique makeup created for that skin tone.

New Makeups
Less than 24 hours have passed and we've already received compliments from customers about the positive experiences they've had using our new makeup boxes. I'm excited to share with you all two new makeups created by yours truly. I've been having lots of fun creating looks using some new layers CJ made. The smoky green is a sophisticated green shadow and the dusky rose is soft and romantic.

Think Makeup
With so many great skin makers out there, CJ and I realized we would need to go to great lengths to set ourselves apart from the masses. Toast of Fashionably Dead and Nylon of Nylon Outfitters have their distinct skins which compliment the unique look of their clothing, Canimal has her range of punk and alternative skins, and the award-winning Santana of Nevermore has long been established as one of the finest skin makers in SL. What could Tete a Pied offer that was new and different? As a makeup artist, it was clear from the start that our focus would be on the makeup. We wanted to produce a wide variety of makeup looks in new and interesting styles but we soon realized that few people could afford to buy new skin as often as they would their hair of clothing and we believe we have come up with a unique solution to this problem.
Any customer buying one of our 4 packs will be given a Tete a Pied Makeup Box for their skin tone and hair colour. The makeup box updates itself with all our makeups whenever it is opened and makes them available to be bought by you for just L$350 instead of the full price (L$900) in our store. The makeup box allows you to browse and purchase our skins in your own time and where ever you may find yourself. Here's a sneak peek at the lovely makeup box CJ has created.

I hate HTML
The lovely Josie Hamilton and Celebrity Trollop have done it again. Another issue of the slick SL fashion mag, Second Style, is available here or in world at various shopping locations such as Tete a Pied.
New makeups are out...I'm not following any sort of theme here. I'm just stretching my wings a bit creatively, seeing what I can do. I do plan on coming out with sets that have more coherence in the future. But for now, it's just about putting out as many different styles I come up with, pretty much all on a whim. The Josie was created in honor of Josie Hamilton, she requested blue shadow.

Testing the Waters
Ok, so it was only a matter of time before I got around to posting a blog about my second life. I've been blogging about my first one for about four years and I have had multiple blogs. I'm not too sure what exactly the format will eventually become but for now it is going to be a combination of my bitching and moaning, an occasional rave, as well as my struggles as a new content creator. Speaking of which, check out the awesome review Tete a Pied skins received over at Linden Lifestyles
What I really loved about that review, or rather Sabrina Dolittle, is she doesn't shy away from constructive criticism. Also, she appreciates good work, even when it isn't done to her particular taste. This is something that kind of has been bugging me lately. A lot of people fail to appreciate the difference between something being well done versus done according to their own personal aesthetic. I have a feeling that Tete skins may have a hard time because it seems the current trend is towards photorealism in skins. I also appreciate that our skins may be a little subtle compared to what most people are used to. That said, our skins are fucking good, even if the makeup isn't your taste, even if you prefer more realism, or rather have it goth, or if you like your avatar to look like a cheap whore. It doesn't matter. Our skins still deserve a 'hey, job well done' because it is technically well done.
Ok, so what I'm really trying to say is this...I'm pissed that we haven't gotten better feedback from people. Hell, almost no feedback actually. To start with, we sent out skins to well over twenty people: friends, content creators, bloggers, etc. Of all those people, two didn't even accept the inventory and a vast majority didn't even say thank you. Thank you. It's really simple. And you know, I don't want to hear the bullshit about capped IMs or busy people. Torrid fuckingMidnight had the courtesy to thank me for our skins as soon as she received them. If she managed to find the time, nobody else on that list has an excuse. I also keep thinking about this post Torrid made a little while back about What a Girl Wants
Fact is, I adored those dresses and I can't understand how it didn't do better. And it has to be more than sex appeal. Maybe I just surround myself with people like me but most of the girls I know in SL don't like the overtly sexy stuff.
And while CJ and I plan on paying attention to customer's requests and feedback, we are not going to cater to the masses. They are already being catered to. We are going to stay strong and offer skins unlike most in SL, butt dimples, subtle shading, and technically sophisticated makeup. That said, we had our strongest day for sales yet and it really did give me a boost. I can't wait to keep cranking out those makeups.
